Genius Sports successfully received a permit from West Virginia Lottery, which will help run licensed lotteries and sportsbooks in the state. This license approval will allow Genius Sports to operate in 13 states of the US.Commenting on this news, Genius chief executive Mark Locke said that Genius Sports is committed to support and operate in the legal territories by partnering with fully licensed sportsbooks.
Mark also mentioned that West Virginia remains ahead of liberalization in the US and is one of the proactive components in legalizing sports wagering. Mark feels honored for the license awarded to the company for betting service in the Mountain State. Moreover, the sportsbook partners will keep utilizing the solutions in the growing market.
The new license is awarded after Genius revealed in April that it had completed its merger with dMY Technology Group Inc. II, a special acquisition company. The investors of dMY II approved the corporate merger on April 16, and the merged company would be known as Genius Sports Limited once completed.
Earlier in June, Genius Sports announced its partnership with Pickleball under its Global Sportsbooks partners for the long term. Genius Sports will have the exclusive license to disseminate live data and video broadcasts from the PPA, paving the way for operators to begin offering bets on the sport.
